I was about 12 or 13 years old when my mother began participating in BRIDGES. She became a member in 2012, along with my two younger brothers. I remember her taking me to every workshop, even though at the time I was just visiting from Honduras. I could see how difficult and lonely her situation was in a new country. She discovered BRIDGES and decided to become a member. Through the organization, she received resources and referrals for scholarships that not only allowed her to succeed but also helped her raise my brothers in a supportive and positive environment.

When I had my son, I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I began participating in parent and child activities. Every Raise Me Up session made a significant impact on my son’s life. I also attended Triple P seminars and participated in workshops on postpartum depression. Through these activities, I found a sense of family and belonging. I was very active, but I wanted to contribute even more to the community.

After a meeting with the Director and Parent Coach, I was offered the opportunity to participate in a mentorship program. I started as a mentee, and the program helped me grow, realize my dreams and goals, and gain confidence. I wanted to do even more, so I became an ambassador. The Ambassador team is an incredible group where I found support and developed my leadership skills. Through BRIDGES, I received a scholarship for my son’s daycare, which allowed me to work and return to school.

The Ambassadors helped me believe in myself and accomplish my goals. BRIDGES has supported me through healing and empowerment as a survivor. I found my voice and had the opportunity to help other mothers through workshops and the resources the organization provided me with. I became a mentor, guiding new moms through their journeys and empowering them to become leaders.

I was also able to become a Notary Public, thanks to the support of BRIDGES, and I started my own cleaning company to create opportunities for other working mothers. Currently, I am about to graduate as a Paralegal, which will allow me to continue helping my community.

I am incredibly grateful to BRIDGES. My husband now serves as the President of the Fatherhood Initiative and seeing the impact of the organization on my mother’s life, my brothers, and now my family has been amazing. After all that, I wanted to do even more, and I am now working as the Outreach Coordinator for BRIDGES at Lake Worth West. I am doing what I love, working with purpose, and giving back to the community.
